Roh Roh Scooby

Lovett: “Yeah like a flamethrower.” … “Am I Shaggy or Scooby?”
Die -like Scooby Doo-: “Rreye rron’t row.”
Lovett: “I better get some Scooby snacks.” “Stop it!”
They both giggle like children
We see the car drive down into the underground parking of a tall apartment building overlooking the Thames.
Fade to black.
Fade from black to a very large open plan minimalist all white apartment. This room is three times the size of Lovett’s whole house. The floor is white marble tiles and the ceiling has semi hidden lights in it. There is large kitchen area that is slightly partitioned from the rest of the apartment by a breakfast and cooking island and two stools by it. There is a glass dining table with four chairs by the floor to ceiling windows and from the view of the Thames they are high up. A large C shaped white sofa faces a wall which has a big flat TV attach to it and under the TV are two white Ikea Kallax units; a Naim Mu-so 2nd generation wireless speaker sits on top of one and there is nothing else on them. There is the entrance door along from the TV and two more doors in the left wall. Lovett is wearing her red coat and she is standing in the middle of the living area, looking a little shocked and opened mouth. Die in standing by the entrance door looking at her.
Lovett: “It is a bit… sparse and unlived in isn’t it?”
Die: “No one lives here Detective.”… “Tell you what, why don’t throw your coat on the floor and make yourself feel more at home?”
Lovett gives him an old ‘if looks could kill, dirty look’.
Lovett: “There better be two bedrooms.”
Die nods to the two doors.
Die “Both with En suites.”
Lovett: “Which one is biggest?”
Die point at one of the doors. Lovett is looking very tense and maybe a little sacred.
Lovett: “That one is mine then!”
Die: “I know.” “Look Detective just so you know; we are very safe here, there’s armed agents all over the place looking out for us, no one is getting in that door and the windows are tinted from the outside and bullet proof too. So you can relax. If you want or need anything just ask. And I will distract you, a lot.”
He smiles at her.
Die: “Ok?”
Lovett: “Ok. I’m sorry Die, this is all a bit new to me.” … “I am going to have another very long, hot shower if you don’t mind.”
Die: “Of course I don’t mind, do whatever you like. And I am going to make some strong coffee.”
Lovett: “They won’t really retire you off will they Scooby?”
Die: “Rrress. It’s better than a desk job.”
Lovett: “Sorry…”
Die: “It’s not your fault Charlotte. Go and have your shower Shaggy and I’ll make us some coffee.”
Lovett: “White, three sugars please.”
Die: “Oddly, I guessed that already.”
Cut and open in Lovett’s ‘safe-house’ bedroom.
This room is white too. There is a large bed with a bedside table on each side and a door is open along the wall to the En suites. Opposite the foot of the bed the wall is all build in wardrobes every door is open, inside they filled with women’s clothes, dresses, trouser suits, skirt suits, white blouses, white shirts and coats nearly everything is either black, dark blue or light grey. One of the wardrobes is half full of women’s shoes and the half draws of underwear. Most of the shoes are high heeled and all are black or dark blue; the underwear is the same colours too. On the bed is an open suit case and Lovett’s own clothes and are all over the bed, they are all bright colours and look too big for her, there are three pairs of DM boots, one purple pair, one bright orange pair and one black pair.
Lovett is standing in front of the open wardrobes nervously biting her thumb nail. Her hair is wet and she is wearing a bright yellow bra, purple French knickers and fluorescent orange socks.
The door opens and Die walks, he is wearing just a white shirt, his black suit trousers and his feet are bare; his is holding a cup of coffee. Lovett crouches slightly trying to cover her body with her arms and hands.
Die: “Knock, knock.”
Lovett: “Get out.”
Die: “I brought you some coffee.”
Lovett: “Put it down and get out you pervert!”
Die slowly walks over to the bed side table and puts the cup down and stand there looking at her.
Lovett: “God you think a lot of yourself don’t you?”
Die: “How did you pass the police medical?”
Lovett is shocked by this and opens her mouth in surprise. She stands up straight and puts her hands on her hips and looks down at her body and back to Die.
Lovett: “There is nothing wrong with me!”
Die: “Obviously you are colour blind. Is that allowed?”
Really fast Lovett grabs a shoe from the wardrobe, a blue shoe with the biggest heels and holds it up threateningly.
Lovett: “Get out you idiot.”
Die walks to the door.
Die: “Are you hungry?”
Lovett: “Yes.”
Die: “I will make us some lunch…”
He slowly closes the door behind him.
Die: “… or in your case, three lunches.”
The door closes and the blue shoe hits it.
Lovett: “Two will do me!” … “Git!”
Lovett looks down at the clothes on the bed and then back to the clothes in the wardrobes then down at her body and round at her bum and back to wardrobes; she pulls out one of the dark blue skirts holds up against herself and then shakes her head.
Lovett: “Nope.”
She throws it onto the wardrobe floor.
Cut to Lovett and Die sitting at the glass dining table. Lovett has two, now empty, plates in front of her and a coffee cup and Die has one plate and coffee a cup. Lovett is wearing an orange t-shirt and green combat trousers and the fluorescent orange socks; Die is dressed as before.
Lovett: “If you had said you were making chicken salad I would have had three.”
Die: “I can make you some more?”
Lovett: “No, it’s ok I’ll just have a bigger dinner.”
She grins. She looks over at her bedroom door.
Lovett: “I know what you were trying to do in there.”
Die: “You do, do you?
Lovett: “Yes.” “You were trying to take my mind off the fact that a highly trained professional hit man who likes playing games, is trying to kill me… and if I am thinking about what you might do next, I won’t be stressing and worrying about what he might do next.”
Die: “You don’t think I was just trying to see you naked then?”
Lovett: “I think that you might have just seen, that, as an added bonus, to be honest.”
Die: “You worked that all out? I see why they made you a detective so fast.”
Lovett: “What were you going to arrest Sir Martin for?”
There is a noise from the apartment door. Someone is trying to get in.
Lovett springs to her feet; grabs her baton from the low leg pocket of her combat trousers extends and holds it high ready to fight. Die stand and goes close to Lovett with his hands up.
Die: “Woah… Woah its ok… its ok…. It’s ok Lovett.”
Lovett faces Die with her baton still up. Harry and Alpha-Three walk in. Harry is carrying her brief case again. Alpha-Three looks at Lovett apparently threating Die with her baton.
Alpha-Three: “It is nice to see that you two are getting along so well.”
Lovett-to Die-: “You knew they were coming?!”
Die: “Sorry, the sight of you in your underwear must have driven it from my head.”
Lovett: “How about I drive this through your head!”
Lovett pokes Die in the forehead with her baton.
Die –gently-: “Ow.”
Alpha-Three: “Six-Seven you will keep her informed at all times from now on. Please clear the table we have some bad news for the pair of you.”
Die clears the things from the table and Harry puts the brief case on it and opens the case taking a laptop and closes the case. She opens the laptop, puts it on the table and all four of them gather around it.
Harry: “Alpha-three has received another email. “
Alpha-Three: “Lady Annabel Bannered, the wife of late Sir Martin Augustus Bannered appears to have been kidnapped.”
Lovett slowly reaches out and holds Die’s nose.
Lovett: “Deeper and deeper.”
She lets go of his noise and Harry is staring at her furiously.
Die: “I take it Jacques wants me to deliver the ransom?”
Lovett: “No!” I thought UK government policy was to never kowtow to terrorist demands of any kind?”
Alpha-Three: “Normally yes. But Lady Annabel has… some information that we desperately need, So…”
Lovett: “So Die has to walk into and trap and get killed!?”
Alpha-Three: “In fact…”
Die: “It’s ok Lovett it is my job and I know what I am doing.”
Lovett: “Bollock! …”
Alpha-Three coughs very loudly and gets their attention.
Alpha-Three: “In fact Detective Lovett Jacques has demanded you both be there.”
Die: “No! She isn’t going!”
Lovett: “You do NOT speak for me!”
Alpha-Three loses her cool for the first
Alpha-Three: “THE PAIR OF YOU, WILL NOT INTERRUPT ME AGAIN!” … “Is that understood?”
Lovett and Die both nod but are staring angrily at each other.
Alpha-Three: “Six-Seven, Detective Lovett is a member for her Majesty’s police force and as such is now on loan to us at SIS All precautions will be taken but as that bastard has also demanded that she is to wear her delightful red coat I, and no one else, will order her to go . The decision is hers and hers alone.”
Lovett: “I’m going.”
Die: “Lovett no!”
Lovett: “Don’t even try it, ok!”
At this point Harry opens her brief case and takes an ashtray, a fancy desk lighter and one cigarette and put them in front of Die. Die takes a deep breath.
Die: “Thank you Harry.”
He pick up the cigarette and the lighter, lights the cigarette puts the lighter back down and takes a long deep dag and holds it in.
Lovett: “Those things will kill you, you know.”
Die breaths the smoke out.
Die: “You have to die of something.”
Die looks at Alpha-Three.
Die: “When and where?”
Alpha-Three: “The where we don’t know as yet but the when is two days’ time at 10pm” … “Six-Seven it is of course a trap but we need Lady Annabel alive.” “Officially we would like Jacques alive too… but if you do get the chance… kill the son of bitch for me, please.”
Die: “Yes sir.”
Alpha-Three: “We will now leave you two alone for a while. We will be in touch if we hear anything else and we will be back in two days from now in the morning.”
Alpha-Three and Harry who leaves the laptop but not her brief case walk towards the door.
Die: “Harry, did you get what I asked for?”
Harry, very reluctantly, reaches into the brief case again and takes out a, carefully wrapped blue in paper, box and hands it to him.
Die: “Thank you.”
Harry and Alpha-Three leave. Die turns to Lovett who take a deep breath to shout at him.
Die: “Please, don’t. We’ll talk about it later. Please?” … “Here, this is for you.”
He hands her the box she takes and looks at it and then him.
Die: “Just open it.”
Lovett opens the box carefully and gasps as she pulls out a sky blue woolly hat with a large white bobble on the top.

Every detail here is spot on, the dialogue is exactly as funny as it needs to be, where it needs to be, and the flow to the gift of the hand is handled brilliantly-no choppy bits at all. ❤
