Episode 5 – Not Just Anybody

Black screen but for a much shorter time than normal. The Beatles’ song ‘Help’ starts… ‘as John Lennon sings the word “Help!”’ an instant cut to an elderly man, early eighties, he is wearing a long brown over coat with a white shirt and a black tie under it. He is walking out of the Elephant and Castle tube station building; he is up right and walking with purpose in the pouring rain. The man is carrying two parcels, one under each arm; they have been carefully wrapped in brown paper and are tied up with green gardening string; we hear some rain drops hitting the parcels as the song is playing. We watch him walking the along street for a while we hear his footsteps, the rain and the song playing.
Cut to a very imposing wide shot of the front of the Imperial War Museum, London (we still hear the song and the rain). There is no one to be seen anywhere and we zoom in a little and linger on the two massive fifteen inch Mk 1 Naval guns that stand outside the museum. The man walks into the shot and he looks intently at the huge guns. Slowly he walks round them not taking his eyes off them; ‘Help’ is still playing. The man is walking back round the front of the guns and he shakes his head slightly.
Cut to the man now hurriedly walking the way he had come, back towards the tube station. The collar of his coat is now turned up high; he is huddled up against the heavy falling rain as he walks faster and he has his hands deep in his coat pockets. He is no longer carrying the parcels.
Cut back to the wide shot of the front of the Imperial War Museum and the fifteen inch Mk 1 Naval guns, the Beatles’ song ‘Help!’ is coming to the end we hear John Lennon singing.
John Lennon: “Help me get my feet back on the ground. Won’t you please, please help me, help me, help me, ooh.”
There is silence for a second as we look at the guns. Then the fifteen inch Mk 1 Naval guns explode in very loud and massive fire ball. Pieces of the guns fly everywhere. One piece flies straight at the camera as it hits the camera we cut to black and silence.
Four to five seconds later the screen is still black and in silence ; then we hear Lovett scream.
Lovett: “NO!”
Cut to Lovett’s living room. Lovett and die are on her bright red sofa. Lovett is huddled up against the far end arm of the sofa with her back to Die. She is holding and hiding something from him against her chest. There is an old looking family photo album open on the coffee table. They are both giggling.
Die: “Let me see it!”
Lovett: “No!” “Go away, it’s too embarrassing!”
Die: “I’ll tickle you.”
Lovett: “No, don’t you dare!”
Die gently places a hand on each side of Lovett’s waist and starts to tickle her. Lovett starts screaming, fidgeting and giggling at the same time.
Lovett: “Stop it!”
Die: “Show me.”
Lovett: “No, no, no, no!”
She screams again and giggles as Die tickles her harder.
Lovett: “STOP IT!”
Die: “When you show me it.”
Lovett: “No!… No! Stop!” … “Ok, ok, stop, stop. Stop! I’ll show you as long you promise not the take the piss!”
Die stops tickling her and move back slightly and puts a hand out waiting for her to give him whatever it is.
Die: “Hand on your heart, I promise.”
Lovett turns and hands him the thing. He takes it but before he looks at it Lovett says.
Lovett: “Why hand on my heart?”
Die: “Your heart is more precious to me than mine.”
Lovett: “Oh you soppy git.”
Die looks down at the small printed grainy photo of a little girl; she is about five or six years old. She is wearing huge micky mouse ears and smiling a big smile in the cutest way possible. Die take a long intake of breath.
Die: “Oh my GOD! You’re ADORABLE! Look at your darling little face!”
Lovett: “Stop it, you promised.”
Die: “You’re so cute!”
Die picks his phone up from the coffee table and points it the photograph.
Lovett: “What are you doing?”
Die: “Oh come on, I can’t NOT have a copy of this, it’ is too gorgeous!”
Lovett snatches the photo back and holds to her cheats again and starts giggling again.
Lovett: “No bloody way!”
Die: “Oh come on, please?!”
Die’s phone starts to ring in his hand. They look at it in shock we’ve never heard it ring before.
Lovett: “Oh that bloody Harry has perfect timing, doesn’t she?!”
Die is now looking very serious.
Die: “It’s Alpha-Three. She only ever rings me if it’s something… personal.”
Die looks at his phone.
Lovett: “You better answer it.”
Die puts the phone to his ear.
Die: “Six-Seven here sir.”
Cut to black.
