Black screen:
The heartbeat like beat to the Gary Numan song ‘Now and Forever’ starts and slowly fade from black to a large cemetery; it is a bright sunny cold crisp day. The song is all we can hear.
There are about 40 people, men and women, there and they are all dressed in black apart from Lovett who is wearing her bright red coat and her hat sky blue hat with the white bobble on top. Everyone is following the six men, all in black, that are carrying Die’s coffin. All we can hear is the song playing.
Cut to Shots now, of the faces of the mourners standing around the grave side. The coffin is now resting on the planks across the top of the grave waiting to be lowered in. We see a vicar is talking but all we can hear is the song
Gary Numan singing:
“Now and forever
And I breathe you in
Hеre we stand
Now and forevеr
Until the end begins”
More shots of the mourners as the coffin is lowered into the grave many people from the rest of the seasons are there. Alpha-Three is trying to keep stoney faced but is slightly failing. Harry is crying into a white handkerchief but Lovett is showing no emotion at all.
Cut now to each of the mourners as each they step to the edge of the grave and throwing in a hand full of dirt onto the lid of the coffin.
As we hear: Numan sings
“Here we are
Now and forever
And I breathe you in
Hеre we stand
Now and forevеr
Until the end begins”
Lovett steps up to the edge of the grave side and without showing any emotion she reaches up to her hat. Cut to the inside of the grave as the hat lands on the top of Die’s coffin.
Cut to Lovett as she turns, and a lone, walks away. Harry goes to go Lovett but Alpha-Three gently grabs Harry’s arm and shake her head at Harry. Harry starts to sob.
Cut to a wide shot of the long tree lined path of the cemetery. Lovett has her back to us just walking away along the path.
Fade to black. The song is still playing as we fade from black to a wide shot of the front of Die’s large house. A black cab pulls up the front and Lovett gets out. As the cab pulls away Lovett pulls from her pocket the three keys on a chain that Harry gave to her earlier. Lovett walks to the big oak front door and opens it, walk in side and closes the door behind her. We look at the closed door.
Cut the big library room inside Die’s house. The song is nearly finished as Lovett walks in and out with having to looks for it she goes to one of walls of the inbuilt wall shelves and takes a book from it. Over her shoulder we that it is hard back the first edition of Alice in Wonderland Die had shown her. This house and everything in it now belongs to Lovett. She holds it tight to her chest clinging to it and turns to rest her back on the wall of shelves and starts to cry.
As Gary Numan sing the last words of the song
“You’ll be in my heart forever
Wherever you dream
You’ll be in my heart forever
Until it’s your time
I’ll wait here for you
Forever”
Lovett slowly bends at her knees and slides her back down the shelves. She sits crouching on the floor in a fetal position with back to the book as she sobs and sobs.
The last of the heartbeat like beat and notes fade out as the song ends and Lovett pushes her head back and screams at the ceiling.
Lovett; “DIEEEE!”
Cut to black and silence.
The credits roll; white text on black, in silence.
End of Lovett & Die season one.

I won’t lie, this one makes me cry every time, but it’s only because you’ve made the characters so very real, that I am moved by it. Brilliantly done, poignant and bittersweet and well worth rereading. ❤
