Chapter 1 – The Summoning of Evil (again)

The demon stood in the middle of a slowing widening circle of burning ash amongst the wreckage of Jane’s newly decorated home office. There was a look of utter surprise and fury on its face as it said, rather indignantly Jane felt “And just how did a lowly human like you manage to summon me here!? Me! Duke Wurgurrawoh of Hell! HOW?!” Jane was still sitting on her desk chair, albeit a little scorched around the edges and she was trying really hard to scream loudly but nothing would come out, her mouth was just wide open. Finally she manged to stutter “I, I, I was trying to open Zoom, send an email, write an Excel formula, get a smiley emoji on a Facebook comment, order a fluffy blue toilet cover from Amazon and work out my kids new school time table at the same, that’s all!” Duke Wurgurrawoh the supreme overlord of the third administration block on the seventh level of Hell furiously shook his head, all four of his massive reddish purple greenish horns scrapping on the ceiling and he yelled “PEACH-IN HELL, NOT AGAIN!” Jane started to cry hot angry tears “Why…” she spluttered “…does this keep happening? You’re paying for a new desk and laptop this time fella! This is not my fault!” Duke Wurgurrawoh’s gigantic shoulders slumped, he hung his head and dejectedly he said “Yeah, ok I’ll replace the carpet too this time.” He moved some ash about slowly with the tip of his left hoof and bashfully uttered “How’s the kids? I heard the little one lost her teddy bear, is she ok?” “Oh yes.” Replied Jane automaticity without thinking “She’s fine now…” Jane paused and a series of strange thoughts flickered across her mind, all of which lead her towards an angary conclusion “How the hell do you know that! Are you spying on me?!” Duke Wurgurrawoh jerked upright, startled by her anger and all four of his horns ripped large holes in the celling and with and his massive arms outstretched his four fingered two thumbs hands up in surrender he said in a panic. “No! No. Not spying as such. No. No. Of course not.” Jane watched as the plaster dust fell like icing sugar onto the top of his reddish purple head, ‘Cupcakes’ Jane thought to herself ‘I should be making cupcakes right now for the school’s open day.’ But what she said was “Bloody liar!” The Demon jumped in panic again “And stop ripping holes in my celling!”
